About US

Our Story

Welcome to our Church Where We’ve Been Building a Community of Christ Followers for 5 Decades!

With a dedicated pastor of six years, our church has a rich history rooted in creating a close-knit neighborhood community. Our mission is to make disciples who make disciples, to make our community noticeably better. We are actively involved in various ministries and outreach programs, including fall festivals, backpack blessing drives, partnering with our local elementary school, and outdoor bluegrass gatherings that bring our community together.

At the heart of our church is a focus on genuine worship. Our singing, accompanied by acoustic guitar, sets a vibrant and heartfelt tone during our worship services. We also prioritize the spiritual growth of our children, offering engaging programs led by dedicated Kids leaders and utilizing the Gospel Project curriculum.

We understand that stepping into a new church can be daunting, but we strive to provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for newcomers. Our goal is to create an environment where genuine relationships can develop, without overwhelming you. We invite you to join us as we continue to build a thriving community centered on God’s love and grace. Together, let’s embark on a faith journey of growth, fellowship, and impacting our neighborhood for the glory of God.

Our vision at First Baptist Church Deerpoint Lake is to be a spiritual home where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and empowered to deepen their relationship with Christ. We envision a church that reaches far beyond its walls, extending God’s love, compassion, and justice into the community. By developing disciples who make disciples, we aim to create a multiplying effect that resonates throughout our neighborhood and the world. Through collaborative partnerships, innovative ministries, and intentional discipleship, we strive to cultivate a vibrant community that reflects the Kingdom of God, transforming lives and leaving a lasting legacy of faith and service.

Our Beliefs

The Bible

We uphold the Bible as the infallible Word of God, guided and safeguarded by His divine influence. We view the Bible as flawless and truthful, and we adhere to the Authorized Version in all aspects of our ministries. The Scriptures find support in passages such as Psalm 12:6–7, 2 Timothy 3:15–17, 1 Peter 1:23–25, and 2 Peter 1:19–21.

God

We have faith in a single, holy, and benevolent God, who is timeless, self-sustaining, boundless, and unchanging. Though He possesses a singular nature, essence, and being, He reveals Himself to humanity through the Trinity, encompassing the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures that affirm this belief include Deuteronomy 6:4, 1 Timothy 1:17, James 1:17, and 1 John 4:4.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and the only Savior of mankind. We believe He came to earth, lived a sinless life, and offered Himself on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sins of all mankind. We believe He resurrected bodily and ascended into Heaven where He now dwells until His return. (Isaiah 7:149:643:11John 1:13141829Romans 3:19–25Romans 5:6–15Philippians 2:5–111 Thessalonians 4:13–181 Timothy 2:53:16Titus 2:10–15Hebrews 7:269:24–281 Peter 1:192:21 John 1:3Revelation 20:1–6)

The Holy Spirit

We hold that the Holy Spirit is a distinct entity within the Godhead and is actively dwelling in and guiding the growth of believers, as well as the spread of the gospel globally. The Holy Spirit is commissioned to regenerate, sanctify, confirm, and inhabit all who have committed their trust to Jesus Christ. References in support of this belief can be found in Genesis 1:2; John 3:5–6, 14:16; Acts 1:5, 11:15; 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19–20; and 1 Corinthians 12:13.

Sin & Salvation

We profess that every human being is inherently sinful, leading to separation from God. The only pathway to salvation and redemption from this fractured state is faith in Jesus Christ. Individuals who refuse to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior remain estranged from God forever. Conversely, those who embrace Jesus as their Savior are welcomed into God’s family and bestowed with the eternal gift of life. This belief finds its basis in scriptures such as Genesis 5:1–5; Acts 4:19, 16:31; Romans 3:10–23, 5:6–12, 6:23, 10:9–10; Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5–6; Revelation 20:11–14.
